Looking for a super-light, well priced, and nice quality fixed line rod? At 47 grams the Daiwa Seiryu X35 may be the rod you’re looking for. Though I feel hook setting with the Daiwa Seiryu X35 is a bit different than with a tenkara rod – and I prefer to use it with light-wire hooks for that reason. If you like tying your own flies the Gamakatsu Nano Yamame eyeless hooks match up very nicely.
Daiwa’s new Seiryu X is a design based on “Sagiri Kocho MC rods”. Originally these rods are designed for Hae(Chub) bait fishing, but the action of these rods is still very good to cast light level tenkara lines. Seiryu X rods are ideal for light level line tenkara fishing.
Seiryu X rods are sharp fast action rods as hae rods and this makes them similar to 6:4 action as tenkara rods. The have a powerful and strength butt section which adopts adopting a twist prevention carbon structure “X45” along with reinforcing structure to tighten the blank into X shape with carbon tape “Brading X”. These technologies, which used to be found only in higher-end models, have been employed in the Seiryu X rods.
